Was there a St. Matthew's UCC in South Buffalo? Yes, on the corner of Swan and Hagerman Streets. In 1963 the congregation relocated to its present site thanks to a donation of land from Mr. and Mrs. Jake Rich Sr.

Who appoints the pastor to the church and for how long? In the United Church of Christ, we observe a "free call" system. The pastor is not appointed to the church by an outside governing body; he/she is called by the congregation through a search process. Together the pastor and congregation with the blessing of the Western Area of the UCC seek to hear God's voice to determine the specifics of this most sacred relationship.
