Home Jacob's Garden
Jacob's Garden, the most recently developed area of St. Matthew's Cemetery, is located east of the other garden areas and is situated on Old French Road. In addition to the garden, an Old French Road entrance has also been developed. The parcel of land acquired for Jacob's Garden adds approximately fifteen acres to the to the existing cemetery and will insure burial space at St. Matthew's well into the twenty-first century. Jacob's Garden was dedicated in 1996 to honor Jacob H. Rich, Sr. for his love and concern for his church and St. Matthew's Cemetery.
A large circle located near the Old French Road entrance is the site of the chapel and administration office building. The chapel actually consists of two seperate chapels within one structure. These chapels are named to honor two men who served on the Cemetery Board and were heavily involved in its operation. The main chapel is the H. David Decker Chapel and seats approximately 70 people plus standing room. The other chapel is the John Ruff Chapel and holds approximately 20 people. This chapel also features a painting of Jesus calming the sea. This painting was given to a pastor of St. Matthew's Church by a soldier who was a prisoner of war during World War II.
