Arrangements
A few things to consider
Here are a few questions to ask yourself as you think about your cemetery needs:
Do I prefer a traditional above-ground or in-ground burial or cremation?
If I prefer cremation, do I want an above-ground niche or in-ground burial or scattering?
Do I want a traditional headstone, a lawn-level marker, or some other memorial – perhaps a bench, a plaque, or a garden?
Will a spouse, children or others eventually be buried nearby?
What is my budget?
At St. Matthew’s, you can choose from:
Traditional Graves – these spaces are available in many areas throughout St. Matthew’s, including in our garden areas named for popular saints and apostles. Read more about these areas by clicking here.
Estate Lots – Estate Lots allow for creative expression (typically, some of the lot is used for a bench, flower garden, or small sculpture, rather than using it all for burial space). These lots are sold by the square foot, and are often irregularly shaped based on a family’s preference for the surrounding landscape, views and topography (e.g., hillsides).
Feature Lots – A Feature Lot allows families to create their own “cemetery within a cemetery,” an area just for you or the whole family. Many families use these lots to erect private Mausoleums or Sarcophagi. Feature Lots often accommodate a garden, benches, sculptures or a combination of the above.
Estate and Feature Lots will require the establishment of a trust for maintenance depending on what type of enhancements are made to the Lot.
Veterans Areas – St. Matthew’s offers a Field of Valor® section reserved for veterans and their spouses. Our Veterans Plaza offers cremated body interments for both veterans and spouses.
